Issue 5’s theme is:
IN THE ARMS OF DREAMS
Morpheus, the God of Dreams, holds a unique place in Greek mythology. Though not as frequently mentioned as other deities, Morpheus makes a notable appearance in Ovid’s "Metamorphoses" as a winged god with the extraordinary ability to craft and manipulate human dreams. In ancient Greek culture, dreams were regarded as divine messages and warnings, and Morpheus was the master of creating vivid dreams imbued with meaning and guidance. These dreams often served as celestial messages to mortals, with Morpheus wielding significant influence over their thoughts, emotions, and destinies through the realm of dreams.
We have taken inspiration for this theme from William Ernest Reynolds-Stephens’s 1894 painting, In The Arms of Morpheus, and Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin’s poem, Morpheus.
Submissions will open on the 15th of November. We will close on the 1st of February.
